Show Legislature Slated At Range-Work Tour Some 45 Utah legislators are scheduled to participate in a tour of range improvement work in the Johns Valley area set for July 13. Interested local people are invited to take part in the tour and can make reservations by calling Howard Roper at the Soil Conservation Office in Panguitch. State and local officials will be on hand to explain the Agricultural Development Loan Program under which a number of range improvements have been made locally. The tour is being sponsored by the Upper Sevier Soil Conservation District to demonstrate the success of the program on some 70 percent of privately owned land in the John's Valley area where nearby public lands provide a stark contrast to recent improvements under the four year old program. Buses will be provided to take participants to the following stops which will be included: Bob Ott plowing and seeding; Tom Hatch range improvement; Widstoe cemetery, an historical sidelight of the tour; and the Met Johnson watershed improvement. The tour which will begin at Bryce Canyon Pines at 8 a.m. will end at 2 p.m. with a barbecue lunch. The Soil Conservation office in Panguitch operates under a memorandum of understanding with the Upper Sevier Soil Conservation District to provide expertise and perform soil conservation work. Reservations for the tour must be received by July 3 said Roper and may be made by calling him at the SCS office, 676-8021. A registration fee of $6 will be payable the morning of the tour. |
