I was on an airplane bound for Denver. Instead of being out hunting. I was on the first leg of the Western Athletic Conference Skywriters Tour. For the next nine days, I lugged television equipment to every school in the VYAC. I made it home and am enjoying the second week of the hunt, so things have not turned out too bad. The trip to the schools did have some positive outdoor benefits. One sports writer from Wyoming invited me to go antelope hunting with him this year. There are still hundreds of permits available in the area he is hunting, and the success rate is about 90 percent. All I have to do is convince my wife the hunt is a good idea. The highlight of the trip came in Hawaii. We only had one day on the island, so it was not much of an extended vacation. After shooting the practice footage and interviewing the coach, we were left with a couple of hours of free time. . 1 k ' ' i if) - CW- i;f . U t- - if ' tlf FT 1 L A; I , . lit1 if V v v. The Expo features hundreds of exhibits, entertainment and live demonstrations aimed at camping, hunting, and wildlife enthusiasts. There will be show samplers, specials and dis counts available on various I probably learned more about fish habitat and survival than in other time in my years of fishing. The size of the fish ranged anywhere from a few ounces to six or seven pounds. It was a fascinating experience that I hope to repeat when I have more time. I am now back in the middle of Utah, but I cannot help but wonder if spending a few minutes observing fish in a middle of a bay in Hawaii is such a learning experience, why observing fish in a lake in Utah might not be the same kind of educational experience. Perhaps, I will get some snorkeling gear and take it along the next time I go fishing on a hot day. When the fishing gets slow, maybe I can dive in and get an education from the fish. I watching, maybe By can learn something from a fish school. Coors Outdoor Expo Planned Lure Fishing From Boots By REX C.
