Show v The Twelve Dancing Princesses' a professional job, entertaining i By JAMS STUART Clipper Correspondent The Davis School District Foundation proudly presented "The Twelve Dancing Princesses' at the Capitol Theater on March 23. Indeed, the foundation had every right to be proud of the professional and entertaining production. The musical fairy tale, based on a book by Laura Bedore, Dorothy Keddington and Stephanie Clark, was an extravaganza of music, dancing and humor. "The Twelve Dancing Princesses' is based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It is family entertainment enter-tainment at its best, complete with a "groovy" story teller and a sensational witch. Bedore' s talents were not only displayed in her writing, but she also designed the set and the costumes. Costumes rivaled those of professional theater. The color coordinations of the 12 princesses to those of the 12 princes were subtle, yet appealing. In addition Bedore portrayed the witch in the scene entitled Too Soon Too Late. Not only were the children in the audience delighted by the witch's performance, the adults were thoroughly enthralled. The talent displayed by the performers in this production pro-duction was impressive. It was obvious that a great deal of preparation and hard work went into making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the audience. ; Princess July added a zest to her role that must be commended. Even during scenes where she was not . center state for her performance, her exuberance and . charm were formidable. - A real audience-pleaser was the scene Jtlll?J ; Chains of Love. The audience nearly came "unglued with the quasi Elvis Presley imitation performed by the . j soldier and suitors. - i The only drawback to the production could be Dlam- - ed on the arena in which it was performed. Although a , more beautiful building could not have been found, the ; sound system left a lot to be desired. It was frustrating ; at times to hear the group at the front of the theater -laughing at a comment, while those toward the back j and in the balcony were saying, "What did he say7 ; j What did she say?" '. i w "The Twelve Dancing Princesses is a fairy tale musical for all ages. With ticket purchases being tax- - deductible and with proceeds going to the Davis School .
