AN ."Mil -J i ' , . . 3 ?y I h J MPJH fun By MARIANNE SCHREINER Student Reporter A world geography class at Mueller Park Junior High played Monopoly and learned how each of the three economic systems (capitalism, (capi-talism, socialism and communism) work. The first two days the students focused on capitalism, and Monopoly Monop-oly was played the regular way. The third day the students focused on socialism. They had to give back all their property, and then it was evenly even-ly distributed. They also had to pay higher taxes. The last day was played with communism. The government owned all the property, but the students still had to pay rent The students playing the game said it was a lot of fun, and a real eye opener. 'Communism was frustrating' said Helen Langan. Most of the students agreed that capitalism was the best. Boulton Elementary School students are learning computer research skills thanks to the Davis District's Technology Initiative. Emily Whitney and Dana Beckstead are two of the many students now using the CD-ROM driven IBM's for research into topics once found only in books and encyclopedias. |
