Show Hospital pipe ails BOUNTIFUL Freezing temperatures burst the pipe in an overhead fire system at Lakeview Hospital on Christmas Day, spewing spew-ing up to 2,000 gallons of water in the facility's medical records section, sec-tion, a spokesman said. There were no injuries. Repair and cleanup operations were over within four hours of the 1:30 p.m. mishap, John Hall, director direc-tor of plan operations at the hospital, said. Temperatures which dropped to minus 1 3 degrees Fahrenheit during the weekend apparently froze the pipe in a first floor stairwell, Hall said. When temperatures began to warm up on Tuesday, the water began to gush. "The Bountiful Fire Department was the first on the scene," Hall said. "We had to shut down the whole fire sprinkler system to the whole hospital for about an hour while we repaired and recharged the line." Up to 2,000 gallons of water escaped into the stairwell and dropped on an area where medical records are kept. "The guys from Bountiful City fire mopped up the mess for us. They're really great," Hall said. |
