Show County seeks justice FARMINGTON Davis County will be hiring a justice court judge in January as part of a judicial restructuring program har ded down by the state legislature. Under the restructuring, each city will have a justice to hear minor cases such as traffic violations in their jurisdiction. The county position posi-tion will handle cases occurring in unincorporated Davis County. The job requires putting in three hours a day and will pay $1,137 a month. To qualify, applicants must be at least 25 year old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Utah for at least three years, have lived in Davis County for at least six months and have a high school diploma or equivalent. The county personnel department has handed out stacks of applications, applica-tions, and many more applicants are expected before the Jan. 7 closing date. Gayle Stevenson, chairman of the county commission, will make the final appointment, which also requires re-quires a two-thirds majority vote by the commission. The justice will serve four years with an unopposed retention option at the end of the term. Qualified persons can apply at the county personnel department |
