Show Former resident 1 1 retires from teaching duties Richard S. Best, former resident resi-dent of this city and son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Best, will retire from teaching this yeai. He has taught 37 years with only one day's absence. He completes his career after af-ter teaching as assistant professor pro-fessor of industrial drafting at Weber State College since 1949. Prior to going to Weber State he taught at Cedar City Junior High School, Richfield High School, Weber High School and Mount Fort Junior High. He also taught evening classes at Weber State for the past 20 years. He attended the BYU, received receiv-ed his B.S. degree from the USU and did graduate work at Utah and USU. He served as president of the Utah State Vo- cational Association in 1947 and for three summers was employed em-ployed in the state office of. education preparing a state course of study for the indus- trial arts, trade and industry. He is the recipient of the Silver Beaver Boy Scout award and has been a Boy Scout leader lea-der for 40 years. He and his wife are the parents par-ents of six children ,all of whom have or are now in the process of completing their college col-lege education. Mr. Best is the brother of Ted Best and Mrs. Robert Booke of this city and spent his early life here graduating gradu-ating from the Springville High. |
