Show Springville takes honors at UFWC convention held in Salt Lake City Club composed of Bonnie Snel-son Snel-son Eileen Memory and Joan R a wlinson, accompanied by Mary Bird, furnished music at the Junior Awards luncheon. At the luncheon also, an original or-iginal song, composed by Mrs. Camilla Judd, with arrangements arrange-ments by Glenn Law, sung first at Home Culture Club's 75th Jubilee program, was revised Springville clubwomen played play-ed a prominent part in the 73rd annual convention of the UFWC in Salt Lake City over the weekend, winning numerous numer-ous awards and honors and taking part on the programs. In addition to Mrs. Wendell Winger of the Springville Companions Com-panions Club, being named .'iirst vice president, Springville clubs won second place and a $200 cash award and certificate in the Community Improvement program. Miss Margaret Anderson And-erson of Manti, state chairman of Community Improvements, made the awards. Vernal won first. Judging was made from a scrapbook, compiled by Mrs. W. C. Harrison and Mrs. Martin Mar-tin Conover of newspaper clippings, clip-pings, pictures and writeups describing four major projects, namely the renovation of the old library building into a place for club meetings; efforts in reopening of the theatre; city beautification projects and activity ac-tivity in connection with the art movement in Springville. Newspaper award The Springville Herald received re-ceived first place among newspapers news-papers in the state, and a beautiful plaque for outstanding outstand-ing newspaper service, covering club activities. This contest was judged on a four-page scrapbook compiled by Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Conover of clippings taken from the local newspaper. Companion's Club wins The Companion's Club was presented with a certificate as fifth place winners in the "Operation "Op-eration Healthy Baby," contest. This was an educational program pro-gram conducted in cooperation with the National Foundaion for prevention of birth defects. A trio from the Companion's |
