Show Total harvests of game birds listed for 1965 The 1965 harvest report covering cov-ering the upland game bird seasons released by the Utah State Department of Fish and Game showed slightly over 80, 000 hunters were in the field in pursuit of upland game birds, except turkey last year. The majority of these, some 77,409 hunted for pheasants with mourning doves and chuk-ars chuk-ars following in popularity. The harvest totals were as follows: Pheasants, 211,876; Mourning Dove, 164,087; Chuk-ar, Chuk-ar, 35,335; Quail, 17,532; Hungarian Hun-garian Partridge, 12,183; Forest For-est Grouse, 8,669; Sage Grouse, 3,881; Wild Turkey, 50. The hunting success for 1965 was approximately the same as 1964 although the report did note a decrease in the total number of hunters afield ini 1965. Opening dates of all upland up-land game bird seasons have been set by the Fish and Game length and bag limits are not set until Department officers complete their filed investigations investiga-tions for the Commission's consideration con-sideration in establishing the full seasons regulations. |
