Show Mapleton Hews Mrs. Blake Everett Officers and delegates for Mapleton District No. I of the Republican party were chosen at a mass meeting Monday night at the home of Floyd Weight. They organized as follows: fol-lows: chairman, Stella Stevens; vice chairman, William J. Jackson; secretary, Janet Car-nesecca; Car-nesecca; treasurer, Ella Ed-mundsi Ed-mundsi district committee, Joe Carnesecca, Dr. P. K. Edmunds, Ed-munds, Carwin C. Williams; delegates to state convention, Geprge Sorenson, alternate, Oscar Os-car Whiting; county central committee, Shirley Marshall, Ferral J. Ogilvie, alternate, Floyd Weight. after returning from New Zealand, Zea-land, where they filled a three year work mission for the LDS Church. They were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Holley over the weekend. Saturday Sat-urday evening Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth entertained for family members (Mr. Menden-hall Menden-hall is a twin brother to Mrs. Hjorth). Other family members mem-bers present were: Katherine and Lee Clements of Ogden; Wealtha Mendenhall of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Almon Harmer of Payson. The Mendenhalls left Sunday afternoon for Escalon, Calif., where they will visit with their son and daughter and the daughter's two children before returning to New Zealand for another three years. U 1 Wanda Holley of Salt Lake City, also visited with Mr. and Mrs. John Holley over the weekend. Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Clip Taylor offered sympathy on the death of his young brother, Lt. Chade Taylor, Tay-lor, who was killed in a jet airlined crash at Beaufort Marine Air Station, S.C. He was 24 years old. Services will be held this week at Loa, Utah. David Cloward had an appendicitis ap-pendicitis operation in Ogden last week. His wife, Kathy, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ar-land Ar-land Cloward made several trips to see him. He has been working in that area for the past few weeks. The visually hanicapped of Utah County were entertained at the home of Geraldine Da-vies, Da-vies, Monday afternoon. Ro-wena Ro-wena Palmer is in charge of the reading room for the visually vis-ually handicapped, and as such provides a program for them each Monday, usually book reviews re-views and stories are the main part of the program. Mrs. Da-vies Da-vies was asked to play her electric organ, and since she had no way of transporting it, she graciously invited the group to her home. Her sister-in-law, Mrs. Maurine Hiatt of Payson, came and read poetry, po-etry, some were her own compositions. com-positions. Mrs. Davies delighted delight-ed the group by playing request re-quest numbers. At the close of the program some one asked that she play "Beyond the Sunset," which she did with Mrs. Hiatt reading the words. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Palmer to the group. These afternoons are open to anyone who is visually handicapped hand-icapped in the county and transportation will be furnished. furnish-ed.
