The beginning salary with a doctorate would be $5610 and at the end of 12 years he would reach $9163. However; there ar presently no teachers in Nebo School District with a doctorate. At present the following number of teachers are on the various lanes: Lane I, bachelor's degree, 233 or 60 percent; lane 2, bach elor's degree plus 30 qtr. hrs., 60 or 15 pecent; lane 3, bachelor's bach-elor's degree plus 55 qtr. hrs., 40 or 10 percent; lane 4, master's mas-ter's degree, 49 or 13 percent; lane 5, Master's degree plus 45 qtr. hrs., 9 or 2 percent. The Nebo School District includes in-cludes everything in Utah County south of Provo. It is the largest district of the three in area in square miles having 1,325. Provo's area is 20 square miles and Alpine 650, according accord-ing to the State Department of f Public Instructions Statistical Bulletin for 1966. ! I The Nebo School District Board of Education has approved ap-proved salary increases for teachers tea-chers in their 1966-67 salary schedule which provide: A basic increase of $175 per year for beginning teachers at the bottom of the scale from the present $4500 to $4675. An annual increase of $294 at the top of the 12-year scale for those with bachelor degrees from the present $7560 to $7854, with a graduated scale of increases in the yearly steps from the beginning to 12 years of service. The above increases bring Nebo's basic salary schedule up to the same level as Alpine's Al-pine's basic salary schedule for teachers. Last year Nebo's basic ba-sic salary schedule was $30 below be-low Alpine's at the bottom of of the scale and $48 below at the top of the 12-year scale. The incentive lanes for additional ad-ditional pay in return for additional ad-ditional study and training beyond "that required for a bachelor or a master degree were added to the basic schedule sched-ule last year, and the amount above the basic schedule remains re-mains proportionately the same for the next year as it is at present. This is made possible by having all levels of the 12-year 12-year scale on an index or percentage per-centage basis which provides for a proportionate increase in all lanes whenever the basic salary schedule is increased. The incentive lanes in the 1966-67 salary schedule provide the following increases: A beginning teacher with a bachelor's degree plus 30 additional ad-ditional quarter hours of study will receive $4815 as compared to the present $4635 or an increase in-crease of $180. The same teacher tea-cher at the end of 12 years would receive $7994 as com-pard com-pard to the present $7695 or an increase of $299. Additional credit A beginning teacher with a bachelor's degree plus 55 additional ad-ditional quarter hours of study will receive $4955 as compared to the present $4770 or an increase in-crease of $185. The same teacher tea-cher at the end of 12 years would receive $8181 as compared com-pared to the present $7875 or an increase of $306. A beginning teacher with a master's degree will receive $5142 as compared to the present pres-ent $4950 or an increase of $192. The same teacher at the end of 12 years would receive $8415 as compared to the present pres-ent $8100 or an increase of $315. A beginning teacher with a master's degree plus 45 quarter quar-ter hours of additional study will receive $5329 as compared to the present $4950 or an increase in-crease of $379.
