Show Foreign lands described at club Cultural Arts Club members heard an interesting program on ElSalvador and Algieria presented by Dr. Mark Jensen of Provo, at their meeting at the home of Catherine Harris. Dr. Jensen told of his experiences exper-iences while working with other oth-er doctors in the beautiful hospital hos-pital in ElSalvador, C.A., financed fi-nanced by the U. S. He described des-cribed the fine climate and showed interesting c ol o r e d slides. There is no middle class in the country and the mortality mortal-ity rate is high. He was on a government assignment as-signment in Algeria, as an eye specialist and told of the country coun-try and people in this north African land. The soil is fertile fer-tile and it is in Algeria that grapes are grown for French wine, he said. The Arabs in this country have a high moral standard and do not drink or smoke. The doctors are efficient effi-cient and quick. All men grow beards. Women are servants to their husbands. President LaVerne Larsen was in charge of the meeting asking Genevieve Whiting to read the club collect. The hostess served lunch to 20 club members and Mrs. Carol Manwaring was a special spec-ial guest. |
