" ' HONORED Miss Lucy Phillips of this city, a member of Snow College faculty for over three decades, is to be honored hon-ored with doctor's degree at USU graduation exercises. Lucy Phillips to receive degree Univerity Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. Miss Phillips made a comment com-ment upon notification of the honor that she was happy, not so much for herself, but that education was being honored. Lucy A. Phillips of this city, faculty member at Snow College Col-lege in Ephraim for over three decades and teacher in Utah for 40 years, will be honored with an honary doctor's degree at Utah State University, Logan, Lo-gan, commencement exercises June 5. Miss Phillips is one of three announced Monday by Dr. Daryl Chase, USU president, for honorary degrees at the Logan school. The other two are Edward P. Cliff, chief of the U. S. Forest Service, Department De-partment of Agriculture; and Richard A. Bullen, vice president presi-dent of International Business Machines, Inc. Miss Phillips, who taught in Provo High School and Dixie College before moving to Snow College, now a branch of USU, has an outstanding record as a teacher, having motivated and inspired thousands of students to higher endeavor. She is a member of the Utah State Library Commission and the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, as well as several professional organizations. organiza-tions.
