Show Utah National Parks Council reorganizes at business meet ering all the territory from Lehi on the north to the Grand Canyon on the south and including in-cluding all of the Uintah Basin. Ba-sin. One of the highlights of the meeting was the awarding of a special certificate of merit Siven by the National Court of Honor, Boy Scouts of America, to Ivan Ruesch of Springdale, Utah. Dr. C. J. Hart, co-chairman co-chairman of the Health and Safety Committee, made the award. Under the direction of the council commissioner and six operating committees, Council objectives for the coming fiscal year were set. The Utah National Parks Council is one of the largest area councils in America, cov- council and Joseph A. Seeth-aler Seeth-aler took the oath of office as Council Commissioner. Eugene Hughes, The Utah National Parks Council held its annual bus-iiness bus-iiness meeting at the Scout. Center, Provo, Utah, Wednesday, Wednes-day, October 7. Two hunderd representatives from all parts of the coucil elected Mardan D. Pearson, Richfield auto, motel mo-tel and lumber man, and installed in-stalled him as president of the council. He is the first man to be elected as president of the Utah National Parks Council Coun-cil outside of Utah County. Mr. Pearson replaced W. W. Clyde, Springville contractor, who has been Council President for the past 12 years. During Mr. Clyde's tenure as president, presi-dent, boy membership has increased in-creased from 8,000 to over 21, 000 registered Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Mr. Pearson is a former Se-veir Se-veir Stake President and city councilman. At the . present time he is a member of the Utah State University Development Develop-ment Committee and active in a number of civic and church projects. He is the recipient of the Distinguis hed Service Award from the Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Richfield. W. W. Clyde was elected to fill a newly created post within with-in the council as President Emeritus. Elected to serve as vice presidents pres-idents of the Utah National Parks Council were: Merrill Christopherson, Provo ; Albert Albertson, Cedar City; Paul Murphy, Roosevelt; W. A. Sowards, So-wards, Provo; Erven J. Nelson, Provo; Louis E. Ringger Orem; Duane A. Frandsen, Price; and Dr. Creed Brimhall, Provo. Members of the Public Relations Re-lations committee are Harvey L. Taylor, Provo; Leroy Whitehead, White-head, Spanish Fork; Dr. T. Earl Pardoe, Provo; Harold K. Monson, Provo; and Frank S. Backer, Provo. Victor J. Bird, Provo, was re-elected treasurer of the. |
