Show BeyoSs meet ram fere tosiigM Heartened by a 19-6 victory over Payson, coupled with the fact that it was the first league victory in years, the Red Devils will march against the Orem Tigers tonight at 7:30 at the North Park, in full determination to upset the favored fa-vored northerners. Judging from the outstanding outstand-ing performance of the Red Devils here last Wed. agaiinst the Payson Club, tonight's game should prove to be a thriller. Devils 19, Payson 6 Springville roared over the Payson Lions here Wednesday behind the brilliant defensive play of Mike Taylor, who played near sensational ball, breaking up Payson's offensive plays and blocking would-be Lion tacklers to give his teammates team-mates holes to make sizeable gains. Richard Thorpe's pas sing game was impressive and the running of Lynn Wardle, Ricky Oit, Marv Hales and Cal Bird were big factors in the Devil's victory. Team spirit, generally was good and the results of the game proved it. Payson received the kickoff and came charging through the Red Devil line on a series of plays that carried them to the one yard line with a first and goal to go. The Devils' Richard Thorpe, picked up a fumbled ball after the Lions had two T.D. plays nullified with penalties, and ran to his own 24 yard Hine. From here the Devils, behind the running of Orr, Hales, Wardle and Ward, carried the ball to the Payson 16. Here Thorpe passed to Cal Bird who carried to the two. Thorpe went through center cen-ter to score on the second play. The attempted kick by Wardle failed. Springville struck again in the second period after both clubs had battled near mid field. Thorpe passed again to Hales, plowed hrough for a first and ten and then hit Bird who carried to the Lion 13. Hales smashed through for the second score and Wardle split the uprights for a 13-0 halftime lead. Payson scored in the third period. Ricky Orr started the next Springville drive with a first and ten and exchanged with Hales in adding another. Payson held on the next two plays, but Thorpe rolled back to his 40 and hit the arms of Lynn Wardle who sprinted into in-to the end zone on a spine tingling play. Wardle's kick was low, but thescore 19-6 held to give the Devils a well-deserved victory. Coach Bills' eleven played doggedly throughout the contest and were not to be denied the victory. vic-tory.
