Show Federal funds now available Preliminary appointment of $269,810.00 in Federal Aid funds for fish and wildlife restoration res-toration projects are now available to Utah's department of fish and game, from tiie U. S. Department of the Interior. The preliminary allotment calls for an allotment of $218, 623.00 for wildlife and $51,187. for fish programs. The early appointment is being be-ing made again this year to help the states program those activities and projects more advantageously which are dependent de-pendent upon these funds. Under Un-der the federal aid program the states , spend their own funds on approved projects and are then r eimbursed up to 75 percent of the total costs. The funds come from a federal fed-eral excise tax on sporting arms and ammunition and sport fishing gear. The formula formu-la under which they are allocated allo-cated to the states is based upon the number of paid license li-cense holders and the total land area of each state. All 50 of the states participate in the program. The heavy burden of the federal government's demands on businessmen for written reports re-ports was disclosed, recently by Rep. Arnold Olsen (D.Mont.) (D.-Mont.) . He cited the single year's experience of one small firm which was called upon to handle han-dle 173 different federal forms involving the filing of 37,683 reports, a workload of 42,285 hours. |
