Show Youth saved from drowning at pool Van Twelves, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Twelves, 825 East First South, and his parents par-ents are all very grateful to the people at Park Ro-She, who played a prominent part in saving him from possible drowning Thursday evening. He was returned home Monday Mon-day from Utah Valley Hospital where he was taken for treatment treat-ment after the accident. He developed pneumonia, but re ports from his home are that he is recovering nicely. Van, reported to be an excellent ex-cellent swimmer, was spotted lying on the bottom of the pool by two girls, Cindy Bird, daughter of Jim and Maurine Bird, and Cathy Beardall, the daughter of Max vna Thelma Beardall, & they stond cn the high diving board. The girls alerted Glen Dee-ben, Dee-ben, life guard, who with the aid of life guard, Wayne Alle-man, Alle-man, pulled the boy from the water and applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until the resusitation squad arrived. It is not known exactly how Van got on the bottom of the pool. Only one thing is certain. cer-tain. If he had not been seen and first aid applied immediately, immedi-ately, he might not have been alive today, his parents believe. be-lieve. They express their sin cere appreciation to all who helped, including the firemen, police officers, the girls and the guards. Women will be pleased to know that the name bridegroom bride-groom comes from Anglo-Saxon England where it was the custom for the husband to wait on his bride at the wedding wed-ding feast. He was called the groom or servitor. |
