An exhibit from th world of William Shakespeare will be presented, and Renaissance music and dance are scheduled to again be a part of each evening's festivities. A departure from traditional format occurs this summer when the plays for the first time will not be presented in repertory. "As You Like It" will play each Monday and Thursday evenings; "Romeo and Juliet" each Tuesday and Friday evening, and "Henry IV, Part II," each Wednesday and Saturday. Matinee performances of "As You Like If" will be shown each Saturday at 2 p.m. beginning July 31 on the indoor stage. The matinee will replicate the evening performance as nearly as pnible, and for the first Ue offers audiences the opportunity Jfjo see all three Shakespearen plays and "Monarchs" during a weekend. Festival activities prior to the production season include meetings March 5 through 8 in Cedar City during which the 1982 company is selected. Contract arrangements are made and successful applicants are contacted by telephone to affirm arrangements. Top level adminstrative and production personnel participate in these casting meetings. CEDAR CITY Twenty-one years of Shakespeare in southern Utah will be celebrated this summer when the Utah Shakespearean Festival presents "Romeo and Juliet," "Henry IV, Part II" and "As You Like It" on the stage of the world-acclaimed world-acclaimed Adams Memorial Shakespearean Theatre. One aspect of the festival this summer is the continuation of the historical trilogy, the first time a three-year cycle of plays has been done at the Festival. Under the direction of veteran director and performer Howard Jensen, "Henry IV, Part II" continues the story of the young wastrel prince who becomes a noble king. The trilogy will culminate in 1983 with production of "Henry V." Felice Proctor will oversee costumes for this summer's production. Opening play for the 1982 season, which runs from July 15 through Aug. 28, will be "As You Like It," a romping madcap mad-cap comedy from Shakespeare's middle period. John Reich, guest director from Long Island, N. Y., will direct this production, which will be costumed by Leslie Robison. "As You Like It" will also be presented in matinee beginning July 31. Rounding out the : summer's Shakespearean productions will be "Romeo and Juliet;" the most-loved story of the star-crossed lovers. This production will be directed by Jim Edmonds on and costumed by Marie Chesley. Fred C. Adams, producing director for the festival, will write and direct the 1982 "Monarchs of England," featuring this summer a Jacobean Masque, James I and the contributions he made to the western world.
