Show Bantam Basketball going full-blast CEDAR CITY The Cedar City Bantam Basketball program is underway for aspiring athletes ages 11-13, under the direction of the Utah National Guard; and the seven teams competing in the local league have already played three exciting ballgames. Randy Cowan, national guard member, is organizing and coordinating the Bantam league this season. The teams will play eight games, and then there will be a league tournament conducted at the conclusion of the season. The winner of the tourney will play in a tournament with the league winners from Beaver and Fillmore. Games are being played at the armory, located on the Airport Road, beginning at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. every Thursday. In initial action Jan. 14, Blackner C&D defeated Ron's Sporting Goods by a 38-26 score. In other games, Tink's whipped C&L 25-19, and C&C Cobler was stunned by Cedar Packing 24-12. In Jan. 21 encounters, Blackner C&D devoured the Pizza Factory by a 40-5 40-5 score. Jones had 12 points to lead Blackner's and Bradshaw added 10. Ron's Sporting Goods nailed C&C Cobler 26-7 in another Jan. 21 battle. Curt Anderson netted 15 points to lead Ron's. In the final game Jan. 2i, Cedar Packing butchered- Tink's 43-16. Ryan Harris led the "Rack" with 22 points, and John Greenhalgh hit for 13. In action last Thursday, Tink's defeated C&C Cobler 31-11. 31-11. Korry Woodbury was the high scorer in the game with 10 points, and Rick Gubler added 8. In other games last week, Cedar Packing nipped Clark and Linford 40-37. Ryan Harris scored 14 points to lead Cedar Packing, and John Chamberlin had 19 for Clark and Linford. Ron's Sporting Goods whipped Pizza Factory 34-22.
