Show 5th District Several motions heard in court PAROWAN Fifth District Court Judge J . Harlan Burns heard a number of motions and other action Monday in the regular law and motion day here. Michael Blake Jensen pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated assault. A jury trial date will be set. Jensen is accused of assaulting Cedar City police officers Steve Donohue and Dennis Anderson on Jan. 18. Robert Ross Combs was sentenced for a previous conviction of distribution of a controlled substance, a third degree felony. The charge was reduced to a Class A misdemeanor for the purpose of sentencing, and Judge Burns placed Combs on two years probation. One term of the probation was that Combs spend 90 days in the Iron County Jail. This was suspended so long as he 1 keep employment and attends a drug and alcohol abuse clinic. Eldon Corry, 56, appeared for sentencing on a previous conviction of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, a third degree felony. This was also reduced to a Class A misdemeanor for the purpose of sentencing. He was sentenced to one year in the Iron County Jail, subject to a work-out program and participation in an alcohol rehabilitation program. Roxanne Maria Valadi, 20, pleaded guilty to theft by receiving stolen property, a third degree felony. She admitted that she had received property stolen from Southern Utah State College, which was valued at between $250 and $1,000. Judge Burns ordered a pre-sentence report by the Department of Adult Probation and Parole. . Kevin D. Rasmussen withdrew a previous plea of not guilty and entered one of guity to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute for value, a Class A misdemeanor. Tracy Bauer, 19, pleaded no contest to a third degree felony charge of production of a controlled stubstance. The charge was reduced to attempted production, a Class A misdeameanor, for sentencing. Frank Lee Eddleman pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted aggravated arson, a third degree felony. A trial date will be set. Ken Stephen McKinlay pleaded no contest to a third degree felony charge of uttering a forged prescription. Judge Burns again ordered a pre-sentence report be completed. Gordon and Nikki Bradshaw, 20 and 18 respectively, pleaded not guilty to charges of production of a controlled substance, marijuana. A trial date will be set. Dale Eugene Stone, 19, pleaded no contest to a charge of attempted production of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. Again, a presentence pre-sentence report was ordered. Craig Lee Houtchens, pleaded not guilty to a third degree felony charge of a felon in possession of a firearm. A trial date will be set. |
