Show Rest homes set jamboree plans CEDAR CITY - The Cedar Manor and the Iron County Rest home in Parowan are looking forward to participating once again in the Utah Health Association Rock 'n' Roll Jamboree. Last year the Cedar Manor nursing home brought in the most money per patient in the state. "We're excited about participating this year, but our participation will be somewhat smaller," explained Mabel Meldrum, therapeutic recreation technician at the Manor. The Manor will put its program into full swing early this month and work on raising as much money a as they possibly can until Feb. 14. The Iron County Rest Home will begin its activities on Feb. 11 by inviting the community to visit the home from 2 to 4 p.m. The residents will demonstrate their crafts, and there will be social activities for the community, said Judy VanNest, activity director. There will also be a Bingo party for everyone interested on Feb. 12. "We will be giving away a television, stereo, a telephone answering service, a decorating lamp and several other items," said VanNest. The residents like to feel they are contributing in the best way they can. This program gives them the opportunity to feel useful and like they are still productive. |
