U crowns queen formed a modern dance to music from the "Jazz Singer" for her talent. Dean is a freshman theater arts major at SUSC, a 1980 graduate of Cyprus High School, Magna. Named Miss Congeniality by the 12 pageant hopefuls was Debbie Evans, daughter of Max and Kay Evans, Sandy. Evans is a Junior at SUSC majoring in communications with a minor in elementary education. The active forensic student is a 1979 graduate of Brighton High School. Tracy A. Ashman, daughter of James and LaMon Ashman, Provo, has been crowned Miss SUSC 1981 and will represent Southern Utah State College in May at the Miss Utah Pageant. Ashman won the title April 23 at SUSC. She was crowned by Betty Rasmussen, Roosevelt, Miss SUSC 1980. The new Miss SUSC is a 1979 graduate of Timpview Timp-view High School. She is a sophomore at SUSC, majoring in communications com-munications with a minor in education. An active member of the SUSC forensic squad, she recently competed at the National Individual Events Tournament in Maryland, winning honors as a quarter-finalist quarter-finalist in duo interp. Ashman was sponsored in the Miss SUSC Pageant by the SUSC iorensics squad. She presented an originally choreographed dance to the music "Funky Town" for the talent portion of the contest. "Miss SUSC is selected by a panel of five judges," said Lani Lindgren, pageant chairwoman. "The criteria used is the same as for the Miss Utah and Miss America Pageant , with the girls being judged on talent, poise and personality, personal interviews, and appearance ap-pearance in swimsuits and evening wear." Lorena Sullivan, daughter of Paul and Sally Sullivan, La Verkin, was selected as the first attendant by the contest judges. Sponsored by the SUSC home economics club, she presented a fashion show of originally designed clothing as her talent. Sullivan is a 1980 graduate of Edison High School, Huntington Beach, Calif., and a freshman home economics major at SUSC. The second attendant to Miss SUSC is Nanette Dean, daughter of Leonard and Bobbie Dean, West Valey. The SUSC cheerleader was sponsored in the pageant by the SUSC cheerleaders.
