Show i Commission meets on basins mission to meet once or twice more with the Utah Delegation before a decision is solid," Hatch said. "The commission indicated its willingness." A final decision by the commission is expected this June. The Towne s Commission Com-mission met early Tuesday at the Pentagon for. the first of several meetings concerning the basing mode of the controversial MX missile system. The 15 member commission com-mission met with the Utah Congressional delegation, Utah Governor Scott Matheson and Nevada senator Paul Laxalt. Utah Senator Orrin Hatch said that he was impressed with the panel and that he thought they really knew the problems of the MX. "The commission seems to be well aware of the problems, specifically those with impact on Utah and Nevada", Hatch said. "There has to be an open-end approach to these problems in advance, ad-vance, or the MX should not be in Utah, and I think the commission is sympathetic to that." The commission meeting behind closed doors at the Pentagon told Hatch that they had reviewed .. all the problems but have had time to solve only about half ; of them so far. - "I'm told the rest will be solved soon so we can get a real handle on what they propose concerning Utah and Nevada," Hatch added. Hatch said it is ' premature to say he will abide by the com- . mission's recom-mendation, recom-mendation, whatever i the decision is. i "Our national security j needs must be met, but at the same time we i must meet the needs of J our people in Utah."
