Show Independance Day Activities Paro wan Parowan city is pleased to announce a full slate of activities for the In-dependance In-dependance day Celebration. Parowan has many traditions being carried on each 4th of July and one of the most treasured is the Sunrise Salute with the "cannon" fire signaling the beginning of a busy and exciting day for the families living in Parowan and surrounding area. The first ward scouts will be up early also to cook a delicious chuck wagon breakfast to b e served on the east lawn of the first second ward church. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. with full size and miniature floats. Children wishing to decorate their bikes arid tricycles may also join in the parade down main street. Immediately following the parade there will be a patriotic assembly on the east lawn of .the- and-. second ward church. James Benson and Jean Hen-drickwin Hen-drickwin will be featured speaKcrs -as "well as Uncle Sam and Goddess of Liberty played by Mr. and Mrs. Brian Gurr. The program will also feature a beautiful choir singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic and This is my Country. The choir will feature singers from the three Parowan wards and will be directed by Mrs. Frankie Lou Bentley. The short program will be followed by races for the little ones and anything go's competition between the three wards under the direction of the fire dept. At 2:30 p.m. crowds will move to the race track for the 28th annual 4th of July Race meet sponsered by the Red Hill Wranglers. The day will be topped with a fireworks display at the race track by the Parowan Volenteer Fire Dept. Our apoligies to Vern Mortensen as we listed him in last weeks paper as Grand Marshall for the parade. Reed Orton will ride as . Grand Marshall Orton is a prominent Rancher and farmer and lifetime resident of Parowan.
