Show Phillips appointed RMTA Secretary "The Children's Hour," "Our Town," "Night Must Fall," and founded the ISU Traveling Players. Phillips will play the part of Jacques in SUSC's February 22, 23, 28, 29, March 1 production of "As ... R. Scott Phillips, theater promotions coordinator at Southern Utah State College and public relations director for the Utah Shakespearean Festival, has been appointed secretary of the Rockv Mountain Theater Association. The one-year appointment begins immediately. Phillips was appointed to the position by delegates at the RMTA convention held recently in Missoula, Montana. He is also serving as the publicity director of the Utah Theater Association. The RMTA he said, indues participation ! from colleges and universities in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. During the coming year, Phillips will travel through these states attending meetings and .conventions hosted by the association. "The purpose of RMTA is to promote and establish quality theater for students of participating colleges and universities and for theater audiences as well," Gary Mclntyre, chairman of the SUSC theater department, said. "We are pleased and honored to have a member of our department involved in this capacity." Phillips received his BA from SUSC in 1975, then attended Idaho State University where he concentrated con-centrated his studies in the areas of directing and theater management. While at ISU, he was nominated for an oustanding actor award and for an Irene Ryan Award for his role in "The Importance of Being Ernest." He also acted in R. Scott Phillips You Like' It." He has also appeared in "Our Town" and "The Mikado" at SUSC. Since he returned to SUSC in 1977, Phillips has directed "A Doll's House," "Stop the World I Want To Get Off!," "Ah! Wilderness", "The Shadow Box," and "Dial 'M' for Murder." He has alsc guest ' directed "Our Town" at Hurricane High School. |
