Utah Opera Com panny slates Performance formances. The season will close with the humorous "Barber of Seville" (in English) in May. The concert on February 25 will include highlights from "Carmen", "The Barber of Seville", "Pagliacci", "Don Pasquale" and others. For ticket information call SUSC Music Department at 586-4411. The Utah Opera Company presents a family concert, "ARIAS AND EXCERPTS", Monday, February 25,- at 8 p.rn,, in the SUSC Recital Hall. "The purpose of the concert", said Glade Peterson, General Dirctor of the Utah Opera Company, "is to expose Cedar City to grand opera and more specifically to the Utah Opera Company. It takes merely exposure and education to get people interested in-terested in opera, thereby creating for us new and greater audiences and support." The opera company", com-pany", continued Mr. Peterson, "started doing community concerts this year and we hope to do many more over the next;, two years throughout the In-termountain In-termountain West." j The Utah Opera Company was formed three years ago upon the return to Utah of Mr. Peterson from Zurich, Switzerland, where he had spent the previous 15 years as lead tenor at the State Theatre in Zurich. The company's first produc tions, "La Boheme" and "Tosca" were performed in Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah, and in 1978 the opera company moved into its permanent home, the beautifully renovated Capitol Theatre. "Otello" and "Carmen" were produced in 1979, and a Premiere Subscription Season inaugurated this season with "Madame Butterfly" in October and "Aida" in January-February January-February which played to standing room only audiences all four per- |
