By Becky Palmer special assign, editor The Signpost Students looking for convenient housing have a number of options on campus. Weber State University housing offers everything from traditional dorm-style housing in Promontory Tower, communal bathrooms and all, to apartment-style dorms in University Village. It also offers diree-bedroom apartments to married students in the La Sal and Stansbury buildings. "It's a great place to live," said Dixie Kramer, Promontory Tower Housing Services business manager. A small double room in PT can be rented as low as $4,140 per semester, including meals, or about $460 per month. A large single room can be rented for $4,878, also including meals. Rooms in UV go for $3,285 and meal plans can be added to total up to $710 per month. Married housing costs about $600 per month. Neither rent nor meal plan rates have gone up this year. In an effort to retain residents and boost occupancy, many perks like special programming, gyms in two buildings and weekly meetings through Services for Women Students have been built into the housing program in recent years. Residence assistants are an important part of making the college experience a good one for students living on campus. "There's an RA in every building and in PT on every floor," Kramer said. "They're there to be a helpmate for the residents. It's kind of like a floor brother or sister." RAs also handle crises and programming. "In meirprogimnmingtheyhave requirements," said Kori Ridges, marketing coordinator. "They have some academic programs, social, even spiritual. They try to keep people well-balanced." "Then after a few weeks people get into school, but then towards the end of the semester we get quite a few people out again."
