Show ' jLI: " : w ' " ' : ;; . i i As a welcome to Weber State University, The Signpost annually publishes an orientation issue to guide students around the university. New students can find the basic, needed resources on campus and continuing students can find services they didn't know were available. Beyond the initial orientation issue, Tlie Signpost is a yearlong guide to the university. Printed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the semester, The Sigiipost highlights campus services and resources. In each issue, the news section informs students of the many issues they face parking, tuition increases, student fees and more. The news section helps students become more informed about the general situations at WSU and the individual situations of other students. Every issue also includes pages on the WSU sports world. From the high expectations for the football team to the little-known successes of the hockey team, The Signpost showcases not only established sports team, but also club teams and other athletic pursuits. An editorial section is published in each issue and is a sounding board for students. Any student or community member can send or e-mail a letter to the editor at thesignpostweber.edu and let their voices be heard. Or, anyone can call The Signpost at 626-7121 and tell an editor what he or she thinks should be in the newspaper. Whether positive or negative, student opinions are vital for The Signpost in covering the complexities of viewpoints on campus. Mondays are the day for students looking to be money savvy. The business section comes out once a week and helps students prepare for the career world. With career profiles to information on resumes and interviews, reading The SignpostwiR help students prepare to use their degrees. The features section is out on Wednesdays and offers and in-depth look into a weekly theme. From substance abuse to dating to the war in Iraq, the features section showcases issues affecting many students and the hidden issues affecting some. Before the weekend begins, students can pick up the Friday issue of The Signpost and read the arts and entertainment section. Movies, music, comedy and theater on campus and in the area are featured every week. Students looking for something to do can find an informative article or review of local entertainment. Staying up to speed with news on campus can be difficult when many students are busy with their noses in their books, but The Signpost is dedicated to showing students the community in which they are invested. t |
