Jared Wilhelmsen asst. sports editor | The Signpost Ron McBride is a household name in Utah, but he begins his legacy this season as Weber State University's head football coach. McBride brings years of experience to WSU with him and is excited about this up coming season. "Our players are looking good," McBride said. "I am excited for the up coming season." While the football team prepares for the opening game, WSU has been bringing in portable bleachers to the stadium in anticipation of McBride's first game back here. McBride attended South Gate High School in Utah and was an all-city football and baseball standout there. Upon graduation, McBride attended San Jose State University were he played football for them from 1959 to 1962. Since he missed that attempt, he tried to adjust and pulled it. The defense was a little slow to start. They missed a few key tackles that led to some touchdowns. Conversely, they line did manage to sack the quarterback six times. "We're missing our whole starting line, our best line," John McBride said. "Defensively, our second team, I think they're just a step behind. Our team is young, so we gotta catch up."
