Show More Than 300 Attend Center Ward M.I. A. Closing Program More than 300 Center ward members mem-bers and guests assembled at the Explorer Cave on the Red Hill last Tuesday eevning to participate partici-pate in the third annual ward social so-cial and M. I. A. closing program held at that place. This was an exceptional program. Oldest one present was Mrs. Mary Alger, aged 84. ( In charge of the program were the M. I. A. officers and Explorer advisors with Charles Merkley as chairman. The program included a saxophone trio by K. D. Williams, Wil-liams, Kenneth McDonald and Maurice Tietjen ; a group of clever - r. skits by the Boy' Scouts; dan duet, "Saucy Sue and Handsome Harry", by Willa Rae Lewis Z Denzel Lightner; reading iris Woodbury; skit, "What Fatima Saw," from the Bluebird tales bv the Relief Society; addresses' b Ray S. Schmutz and Mrs Eric Snow, presidents of the Y M and Y. L. M. I. A. of the ward; expres-sion expres-sion of appreciation for the MIA. by Leo G. Smith; introduction of Explorers by Ralph Hafen; community com-munity singing, and the spectacu. lar fire-lighting ceremony. The Explorers' group sang, "Battle Hymn of the Republic". Prayer was by John L. Clarke. Light refreshments were served with H, C. Cottam, Ray Schmutz, Leo A. Snow, Mr. and Mrs. E. Eric Snow and Mrs. Charles Merkley Merk-ley serving the hamburgers and hot chocolate. |
