Show Mrs. Orval Hafen Reviews "The Kobe' Before Dixie Reviewers' Club The Dixie Reviewers had an especial es-pecial treat Wednesday when Mrs. Orvallfafen presented "The Robe", the book by Lloyd C. Douglas, which is being so widely read and talked of today. Miss Tillie Win- isor and Mrs. B. G. Milne were the hostesses, the review being held in the reception room of the Mc-Quarrie Mc-Quarrie Memorial hall. There is a story with the writing writ-ing of the book. It seems that on one of his appearances, Mr. Douglas was asked what became of The Robe which Jesus wore when he went to the cross, and which according to the writers of the period was baratered away. This gave the author his idea and he wove his story around the life of a wealthy man who purchased the sacred Robe, of his long-term exile and the rebuilding of his life. Present at the Crucifixion, he was ambitious to possess this Robe worn by Christ, and according to the story he eventually absorbed from self training and study the principles which Christ taught, thus virtually re-creating his own way of living. ' Covering that period of domination domin-ation of the Roman government, which in a large measure parallels paral-lels the Nazi regime of today, the book is finding unusual response, and offers encouragement to the world for the eventual triumph of right. |
