Show Fireworks Prohibited On Forest Areas Under an order issued recently by Regional Forester C. N. Woods of the Intermountain region, U. S. Forest Service and effective from July 2 until further notice, fireworks fire-works are prohibited in the Dixie, Fishlake, Manti and Wasatch forests for-ests of Utah and the Humboldt forest of Nevada. The order specifically prohibits the following acts: "The throwing throw-ing or placing of a burning cigarette, cig-arette, cigar, match, pipe heel, firecracker or any ignited substance sub-stance in any place where it may start a fire and the discharging of any kind of fireworks on any portion of a national forest closed by order of the regional forester to the discharging of fireworks." In commenting on this order Mr. Woods said, "While conditions are about normal for this season of the year we feel that it would be foolhardy to take any unnecessary unnec-essary chances with man-caused fires. We believe that the public appreciates the importance of protecting pro-tecting our forests, ranges and watersheds from fire and will give their full support to these restrictions. restric-tions. No restrictions will be placed on our national forests except ex-cept such as are found necessary for their protection and are believed be-lieved to be in the public interest." |
