Show HEWS of the COUNTY SEAT Rodney A. Ashby was in St. George over Friday and Saturday visiting and on business. He reports re-ports that Mrs. Ashby and children child-ren are enjoying their home in Salt Lake City but look forward to returning to St. George. Mrs. Grant Simms and small son, and her sister, Miss Mary Ellen Gentry returned home to Los Angeles over the week end after visiting for several days "with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gentry. While here, family members mem-bers gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. W. McAllister for dinner, music and visiting. -$: Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Leany, daughters Velda and Maxine, and son Reid, spent the week end in Pine Valley. Blazzard, were here from Salt i Lake City Friday over Monday to 1 visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Blazzard. The group held a family dinner and swim party Saturday evening. Miss Norma Welker of Laramie, Wyo., arrived Saturday to spend the summer vacation in St. George. She is a guest of Miss Maxine Carter. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Adams left last Friday for a short vacation with friends and relatives in Pay-son, Pay-son, Spanish Fork and Salt Lake City. Jf. Ot. .'(. .'.. -a- '(- 'A- Mrs. Jos. W. McAllister and Mrs. Leo A. Snow left last midweek mid-week for Los Angeles, where they will visit their children; Mrs. Snow with her daughters, Mrs. Alma U. Millett and baby, and Miss Kath-erine Kath-erine Snow, and her son, Beman, who was transferred recently to the U. S. Naval training station at San Diego. Mrs. McAllister will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil W. McAllister. Guests over last week of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin O. Wilson were the Misses Marion and Georgia Ann Wilson of Roscoe, South Dakota, Da-kota, and Mrs. John M. Ault of South Pasadena, Calif. All three are sisters of Mr. Wilson. The group motored to Cedar City on Monday to visit and on business. Mr. Wilson is with the local office of-fice of U. S. Soil Conservation. 'if- 'A- 'IV Mrs. Mary J. Bunker left Wednesday Wed-nesday morning for Salt Lake City, where she will visit for a week with her children residing there before coming back as far as Delta to spend the, remainder of the summer. Miss Shirlee Passey, sister of Mrs. Anson B. Call Jr., accompanied accompan-ied the Calls home from Provo last week and will remain as their guest for two weeks. Here to attend the funeral services serv-ices Tuesday of Mrs. Harold Crapo, besides her parents, sisters and brothers, were Mr. Crapo's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. James Crapo, two brothers, Delbert Crapo and Lorin Crapo, all of Fillmore; and his sister, Mrs. Lyla Coombs and daughter, who are making their home in St. George for the present. pres-ent. 1 V, -K. JC 'A- "A- Mrs. Albert Anderson returned last Saturday from attending summer sum-mer school at the B. Y. U. Lamar Hardy of Mesquite is a surgery patient at the local hos-iptal hos-iptal since July 3rd. Mrs. Roxey S. Romney returned Tuesday from visiting relatives in Pocatello, Ida., after attending the American Red Cross and National Youth conference in Salt Lake City. She was in Pocatello for the family reunion honoring her brother, Capt. H. B. Call, who was on furlough from Alaska, and enroute to Camp Roberts. She also visited with her son, Lieut. M. Waldo Romney and wife, in Pocatello, and in Logan with Mrs. Gladys Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dunkley and other former Dixie folk. Miss Viola Wittwer returned Tuesday from Salt Lake City, where she has been for the past week visiting and on business. Leo S. Gerard of Salt Lake City is spending today (Thursday) in St. George and Hurricane with his grandmother. Mrs. Lottie R. Carter Car-ter and other relatives enroute to Los Angeles to complete his L.D.S. mission. Mrs. LeGrand Pendleton and children have returned from Nephi after visiting for three weeks with Mr. Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon A. Snow and family moved to Provo on Monday, where Mr. Snow has employment, em-ployment, and where they will make their home for the summer and perhaps longer. Mrs. Clara Larson returned last Thursday from Chicago and vicinity where she has been visiting the past two months with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Poole and children. Mrs. Poole is her daughter, the former Maud Larson. Mrs. Orval Hafen and son, Michael returned last week from Los Angeles where they spent several sev-eral days visiting with Capt. and Mrs. L. C. Harmon. Mrs. Hafen and Mrs. Harmon are sisters. v. 'A 'If 'I? Mrs. Mack Crandall and Mrs. LeGrand Spilsbury entertained at Bridge Saturday evening at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Whitehead left last week for Salt Lake City where he visited his daughters, the Misses DeVora and LaVerd Whitehead White-head and his son, Pfc. Preston Whitehead, who was home on furlough. Esplin and family returned Saturday evening from spending two weeks at their ranch. Mrs. Kay Wilkinson, the former Lael Woodbury, arrived last Saturday Sat-urday from New England, where she has been visiting her husband, who was stationed in Massachusetts Massachus-etts and has just been transferred to California, where she will join him shortly. Miss Lena Nelson left Sunday for Provo and Salt Lake City, where she will remain for several weeks to visit relatives. 'i'r 5! Mrs. Gus Pendleton spent the week end in Nephi with her husband hus-band who is in government employment em-ployment there. Mrs. Maurice J. Miles is home from the local hospital, where she underwent surgery July 1st. |
