Show LEEDS Mrs. Lizzie McQuaid Reporter Laurel McMullin and Joy Caldwell Cald-well went to Parowan for the Fourth of July. While there, they will be guests , at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Decker. Visitors to Hurricane for the Fourth of July were Ramona McMullin Mc-Mullin and Elaine and Ilean Stirling. Stirl-ing. W. G. McMullin, accompanied Anson B. Call, county agent, and Wayne Hinton to Fillmore to a fruit growers' meeting. The red astrichan apple crop is very light here, but the growers seem to have a good market for what they have. Mervin Hartman is here visiting his mother, Mrs. Dallice Hatrman, and sister, Mrs. Jack Long. After a busy week the beet seed growers have their seed cut and in the shock. Help was scarce and the farmers exchanged work. In some cases, girls went into !he fields to help with the shocking shock-ing and did excellent work. Stewart Allen, Doyle and Guy Jolley and Douglas Olsen have Sne to Salt Lake City where tney spent the Fourth of July. Leeds celebrated Independence ay on Monday, the 5th. A meet-lng meet-lng was held at 11 a.m., and sPorts for the children in the afternoon. The committee sold not dogs, ice cream and soda pop. On Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mfs. Karl McMullin and children v'sited relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Fuller and children of St. George spent Mon-. Mon-. ay here with relatives. here. Mrs. D. H. Leavitt has been visiting with her son, Dudley and family at Boulder City, for the past two weeks. Mrs. Kay Bunker and Mr. and Mrs. Durrell Adams celebrated the Fourth of July at their respective homes with the mumps. Mrs. Rose Abbott and daughter, Maxine Mott, returned from Logan, where they spent the previous week visiting with their son and brother, who is in the Naval training school there. Mr. and Mrs. George Huntsman and son, George Jr., are new residents resi-dents of Bunkerville. They have purchased the Randy Leavitt home. July Fourth Celebrated An appropriate Fourth of July celebration was held here Monday with the following program being given at 10 o'clcok in the morning morn-ing the school house with Mrs. Austin Hunt as master of ceremonies: cere-monies: Congregation singing The Star-Spangled Banner" and God Bless America". Pledge of Allegiance Allegi-ance to the Flag; reading, Jerry Hunt; song, "Our Flag", by Nan-alie Nan-alie Hunt, Chyrell Waite and Claudia Waite; talk on war conditions condi-tions by World War I veteran Mr Hicks; trumpet solo, by Glenn Waite Jr.; patriotic talk by Mary Abbott; Piano duet "Under the Banner of Victory", Melva and Elaine Leavitt, The Flag Without A Stain", was sung bv Maxine Hunt; an original stunt under he direction of Mrs. Verda Hunt concluded the program.
