Show Miss Grace Bentley arrived Friday Fri-day from Price, where she has been employed for several months, Her fiance, Rulon Romney, also of Price was guest at the Bentley home over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Francesco Roz-zini Roz-zini left Monday for Las Vegas where Mrs. Rozzini will remain for the week receiving medical treatment. Mrs. J. R. Fawcett and daughter, daugh-ter, Helen, left Monday evening for Sacramento, Calif., where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Elbert El-bert Nelson an.d baby, and Helen will remain to accept employment, making her home with her sister, Mrs. Nelson. Mrs. Fawcett will also visit in Pittsburg, Calif., with her son, Boyden and wife before returning home. Guest over last week of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Clarke was Mrs. Clarke's father, Alex Christensen of Amercian Fork. He returned home Monday morning. X Kanab visitors over Saturday and Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cottam were their daughter, Miss Jean Cottam, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lester G. Cottam, and their friends, Miss DeLores Egbert and Miss Lila Lundquist. Mrs. Grant B. Snow of Delta was guest last Thursday and Friday Fri-day at the home, of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Snow, going on to Bunk-erville Bunk-erville Saturday to visit her father, William Bowman. J'. o. ?v. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Schmutz entertained a large group of friends at their home Monday evening at a Valentine social honoring hon-oring Mr. and Mrs. David Smith, who are here from Idaho Falls spending a month at Temple work. Mrs. Smith, the former Emily Hancock, and Mrs. Schmutz were girlhood neighbors. Miss Willa Rae Lewis arrived early last week from Salt Lake City to visit friends and relatives, a guest of her aunt, Mrs. John Alsop. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Lewis, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Aub-rey Barker, spent Sunday and Monday in St. George visiting. -vp -i" 'i? Mrs. Elmer Pickett and baby returned Monday - to their home in Miriersville, after visiting in St. George for three weeks with her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pickett and family. Mrs. Joseph Palmer returned Sunday from spending two weeks in Kanab and Alton. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Pugh, with whose children she has been staying in Kanab while Mr. and Mrs. Pugh were on a trip to Tucson and Old Mexico. She also visited in Alton with her son, Ray Palmer and family. Mrs. Nord Brockbank, who has been visiting in St. George with her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orion Brockbank, returned to her home in Holden, Monday. J. .'(. -V- IT Miss Evelyn Hawkins was hostess host-ess last Thursday evening at her home to the St. George telephone exchange members and guests, honoring Miss Helen Fawcett, a former club member. Games were followed by refreshments. Henry Pickett and daughter, Glenna, left Tuesday for Salt Lake City to bring the body of Mrs. Karl Shakespeare to St. George for funeral services and burial. Mrs. Charles Andrus is in Salt. Lake City visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marvin Jenkins who has a baby girl born Jan. 29. Captain Jenkins, who was home to welcome the arrival of their daughter has returned to his Western Airlines post in Alaska. Miss Barbara Carter arrived Saturday from Salt Lake City to spend the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph T. Carter. Mrs. Evan Pickett spent the week end in Salt Lake City where she attended the concert presentation presen-tation of Marion Anderson, Negro soprano. Mrs. Edgar R. Simpson and son, Dick, arrived last Thursday evening eve-ning from Los Angeles, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Simpson's mother, Mrs. C. A. Blackburn, who visited vis-ited with them for the week. Here from Bremerton, Wash., to attend the funeral services last Friday for her father, , Richard Henry Atkin, was Mrs. Milo Can-field, Can-field, the former Lucinda Atkin, who' was listed among the survivors sur-vivors as Mrs. Mark Canfield. Miss Jennie Larson, district supervisor su-pervisor of county nurses with headquarters in Cedar City, visited vis-ited in Washington county Tuesday Tues-day and Wednesday with Miss Beryl Napier, St. George, and Miss Uarda Knight, Hurricane, the Washington county school nurses. Mrs. Arnold Renner and two small sons, Ernest and Kenneth are guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Syphus. Mrs. Renner, Ren-ner, the former Eleanor Syphus, is a sister of Mr. Syphus, and has spent the past week visiting in Las Vegas and Logandale with others of her brothers and sisters. Mr. Renners is a member of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. They have resided in Minneapolis the past three years and were recently re-cently transferred to Portland. Miss Georgia Blazzard entertained enter-tained a group of friends at her home on Tuesday evening at a weiner and marshmallow roast preceding M. I. A. Miss Blazzard, who has been home visiting for a month with her parents, Mrr and Mrs. Thomas Blazzard, will return this week end to her employment em-ployment in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Bertha Barlocker of Enterprise En-terprise is here to spend a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs. I. W. Pace. ?fF -it- t,-Dr. t,-Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Reichmann were hosts last Saturday evening to 12 couples at a Valentine supper, sup-per, which was followed by card games. Prizes were' won by Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold McArthur. Also numerous prizes of war stamps were given. Mrs. Mark Canfield arrived last Sunday from Bremerton, Wash., to visit Mr. Canfield's father, Lyman Ly-man Canfield, and with Mrs. Can-field's Can-field's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Riding and other relatives. .(. 'jf 1,- Mrs. Howard Whitehead and small daughter are here from Los Angeles visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Whitehead, and in Virgin with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cornelius. Mrs. William M. Jensen and 16-month-old daughter are here from Provo for an indefinite stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Holt. Her husband is in the U. S. Army air corps and is now stationed sta-tioned at Buckley Field, Colo. Mrs. William (Bill) Fairchild and small son Jimmie, left Monday Mon-day night for Lawton, Okla., to be near her husband, Pvt. Fair-child, Fair-child, who is taking his basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. The N. E. B. Pinochle club had as their hostess last Thursday evening, Mrs. Gerald Blake, with Mrs. Clyde McQuaid as special guest. Two tables were played, honors going to Mrs. Don Judd and Mrs. Don Leavitt. Lunch was served. o. j'; Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Adams are leaving this week end for Delta, where Mr. Adams will do the photography for. the Delta high school year book. From there, if roads are passable, they will go on to Wayne county to cover the high schools for yearbook pictures. .V. o'. .M. -If Pres. Glenn E. Snow of Dixie junior college is leaving this (Thursday) night for Washington, D. C, and New York to attend the dual board meetings of the National Education association. On the return trip a special education educa-tion conference will be held in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Atkin were here last week from Buttonwillow, Calif., to attend the funeral last Friday of Mr. Atkin's father, Richard Henry Atkin. a? Mrs. Norma Wright left Sunday for Los Angeles to spend a week visiting friends. Mrs. Byron H. Taylor entertained enter-tained her sewing circle Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon at her home. Miss Dean Syphus and Miss Shirley Milne united as hostesses Saturday evening, Feb. 12th, at the home of Mrs. Alice W. Milne, grandmother of Miss Milne. The dinner table was set for 20 young ladies, all of whom wore evening eve-ning dresses for the occasion. Games followed the dinner. Two of the young ladies mothers assisted as-sisted with the serving. |
