Show Funeral Services Held Friday for Richard Henry Atkin; Died Feb. 7 Bishop Andrew McArthur conducted con-ducted funeral services in the South ward chapel Friday, Feb. 11th at 4:30 p. m., for Richard Henry Atkin, 75, who died at his home Monday, Feb. 7, after a lingering illness. There was a large crowd of friends and relatives rela-tives in attendance and many floral offerings. Music numbers were under the direction of Mrs. Vernon Cannon Can-non and included a vocal duet, "In the Garden", by Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Miles; vocal solo, "Silver-Haired "Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine", by Ver-( Ver-( Continued on page eight) Atkin Funeral (Continued from first page) non Worthen; and violin solo, Mrs. Ellis Everett. Mrs. Cannon accompanied ac-companied the numbers on the pipe organ. H. Val Hafen was first speaker and told of his long acquaintance with the deceased and his loyalty as a friend and kindness as a neighbor, of his many years of hard work at freighting and farming. Knowing the deceased many years in connection with mining operations, J. Lawrence Wads-worth Wads-worth paid tribute to Mr. Atkin for his dependability and sermonized sermon-ized on the principles of the gospel and the application of these principles prin-ciples in the daily life of all mankind. man-kind. Closing remarks were made by Bishop McArthur. Prayers were by Albert Carpenter and A. A. McCain, both of whom have been neighbors of the Atkin family for many years. The grave in the St. George city cemetery was dedicated ded-icated by Bishop McArthur. |
