Show Washington County Goes Over Top In Fourth War Loan Bond Drive Hurricane Exceeded Its Quota Over $2,500, ' Reports Claud Hirschi Despite the heavy allotment of $274,000 for the Fourth War Loan drive, Washington county checked in Feb. 15th with its full quota, reports Glenn E. Snow, county chairman. "The fourth drive just finished has been the most successful suc-cessful one thus far", he states, "because more people actually participated in the achievement, and to practically every home in Washington county goes the credit for our final success." Claud Hirschi Keorts Reporting from the east end of the county, Senator Claud Hirschi wrote, "Hurricane celebrated cele-brated Tuesday evening with its Victory Ball, having at the close of Feb. 15, 1944, exceeded its bond allotment by better than $2,-500, $2,-500, total collected, issue price, $42,500.00". LaVerkin, Toquerville and Rockville reported Mr. Hirschi, Hir-schi, are well on their way to reach their quotas and will, in all probability, do so before the end of February. At the conclusion of the official of-ficial drive, Feb. 15, the reports indicated that Washington county, together with, the following cities and towns had reached their full quotas: Santa Clara, Leeds, Enterprise, En-terprise, Hurricane, St. George and Pine Valley, with several others almost within the circle of achievement, state the bond drive committee. "To me," says Chairman Snow, "this accomplishment is a tribute to the preparedness and patriotism patrio-tism of the citizens in Washington Washing-ton county. The task seemed insurmountable in-surmountable at the start. This demonstration on the part of our people on the home front should lend great encouragement en-couragement to the boys on the fighting fronts and in the training train-ing camps". Repetitions Expected "For the duration," explains Mr. Snow, "we may expect a repetition repeti-tion of these extra bond drives at intervals of about three months, and ours is a continuing obligation to support each drive as we have done this time," suggesting that every individual, every family and every unit and organization begin at once to prepare for the next drive. As chairman of the central war bond committee of Washington county, Mr. Snow expresses appreciation ap-preciation to the members of the central committee, to the chairmen chair-men and workers in every community, com-munity, and to the schools who have worked so well in putting over the drive, which in spite of its volume has found Washington Washing-ton county equal to the task. A county-wide vote of appreciation is also extended to the State Bank of Hurricane and to the Bank of St. George who have almost put aside their own regular regu-lar business to take care of the sale of these bonds; and to the postal employees throughout the county who have given untiring and courteous service in the' sale of stamps that eventually grew into bonds, the committee extends ex-tends its thanks. |
