Show Red Cross Activities In Washington v County Reviewed Here By Field Representative Activities of the Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross for the year 1943 and thus far in 1944 were reviewed Tuesday evening, with Mrs. Lu-cile Lu-cile O'Brien of San Francisco, Pacific area field representative, and Miss Bena Johnson, nutritionist, nutri-tionist, attending. Representatives from Zion Park Branch, from Hurricane and St. George were in attendance, with Roxey S. Romney, county chairman, conducting con-ducting the meeting. Reports Given Reports were presented by the chairmen from the different branches, and Mrs. Harold S. Snow, county production chairman chair-man exhibited some of the work completed for the shipment which "HI leire St. George shortly. The exhibit, included bed jackets, bed shirts, bed shoes, hospital af-$ians af-$ians and kit bags. She re ported that Hurricane had turned in 100 kit bags filled, along with other articles; showed the completed com-pleted afghans from Enterprise, Veyo, Zion Park area and St. George, and said where 25 of these were alloted as a minimum, 50 were practically ready to ship, expressing appreciation for the cooperation being given. Mrs. Thomas Jones reported on the knitting activities and made allotments to those present who desired knitting, saying this activity ac-tivity has increased 100 per cent in the county in the last month which will make possible the completion com-pletion of the big allotment. Knitting Knit-ting was going forward during the meeting. Outlines Red Cross Program Mrs. O'Brien outlined what the Red Cross will be called on to supply for the current year and expressed assurance that Washington Wash-ington county will not fall behind be-hind its past good record. Report of the year's expenditures expendi-tures was made by Mrs. Romney and the balance of. the time was devoted to preliminary organizing for the Red Cross membership drive which begins Mar. 1st, this being in charge of J. Lawrence Wadsworth, chairman. Refreshments were served under direction of Mrs. J. Claude Thompson, Thomp-son, Mrs. Ellis J. Pickett, Mrs. Clyde Graff ana" Mrs. Walter F. Smith. |
