Show Wards Hold M.I. A. Programs Here Tuesday The South and East wards united Tuesday evening for an open night social in the South ward recreation recrea-tion hall, a large crowd participating, partici-pating, with the officers of both organizations directing the program. pro-gram. In the Center ward a special patriotic program honoring Washington's Wash-ington's birthday anniversary furnished entertainment. The program pro-gram included the singing of patriotic pa-triotic songs by the audience with Mrs. Mae A. Pace accompanying and Lenzi Sullivan conducting. This was followed by a one-act play, "America for Amercans", with a junior group participating, and a patriotic, "America", under direction of Mrs. Earl J. Bleak, with Vernon Short reading the dramatic script written by Mrs. Lewis Christian, along with an accompaniment of songs of America by the girls' quartet including in-cluding Joyce Bithell, Gai Graff, Sharlene Snow and Olive Brooks. The West ward M. I. A. featured fea-tured a patriotic program Tuesday Tues-day evening with the song and script under the direction of Mrs. Earl J. Bleak being featured along with a military tap dance. The special interest group of the West ward M. I. A. have as their book review for next Tuesday Tues-day evening, "The Robe", by Lloyd C. Douglas, which will be given by Mrs. Orval Hafen. In this book, the fortitude of early Christians is shown in the dramatic dra-matic story of the influence of the robe worn by the Christ when he was crucified. It is a modern version of an ancient theme, but with a message that is timely and inspirational. Cordial invitation is extended to all who wish to attend. |
