Show Funeral Services Held In Central Feb. 18 for Clarissa Jane B. Bracken CENTRAL, Utah. Funeral services serv-ices were held in the Central ward house Friday, Feb. 18th, at 1 p.m., for Mrs. Clarissa Jane Burgess Bracken, 83, who died at her home in Central Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m., of heart complications. Music numbers were furnished by Jos. W. McAllister of St. George and the Pine Valley choir, accompanied by Mrs. Nemmie Pearce and Mrs. Nettie Gardner. Speakers were D. L. Leavitt and Milford Barnum of Central, Bishop Henry Bowler of Gunlock, and Bishop Malin Cox of Pine Valley. All four told of the quiet, kindly life of Mrs. Bracken, her service in the community and her faithfulness to her friends and to her church, and paid tribute to her family for. their devotion and kindness to their mother. Prayers were by Murray G. Bracken and Bishop Vaughn Jones, and the grave in the Central cemetery was dedicated by Bayard Bay-ard Cannon. Clarissa Jane Burgess Bracken was born July 20, 1861, at Park City, Utah, a daughter of Harrison Harri-son and Amanda Hammond Burgess. Burg-ess. She was a small child when the family moved to St. George, later moving to Pine Valley, and eventually to Central. She was married in 1878 to William White, who with an infant in-fant born to the couple died. In 1884 she married William Bracken, pioneer Pony Express rider and cattleman. To them were born: seven children, two of whonr died, and Mr. Bracken died two years ago. The five living children are Mrs. Bayard Cannon, Levi and Neal Bracken, all of Central; Mrs. Sarah Adams of Meadow, Utah; and Anthon Bracken of Los Angeles. |
