Show New Teachers Announced To Fill Vacancies Left By Beck, Neilson Glenn E. Snow, president of the Dixie junior college, announces the employment of two new teachers to fill vacancies resulting from the resignation of Dr. D. Elden Beck and Miss Emma Neilson. In the Biology department Ross Hardy will replace Doctor Beck. Mr. Hardy comes from Ann Harbor, Har-bor, Michigan and holds Bachel-lor's Bachel-lor's and Master's degrees from the University of Utah. Since obtaining ob-taining his degrees he has done work at the Brigham Young university uni-versity and is now working for his Doctor's degree at the University of Michigan. He expects to do a great deal of research toward his Doctor's degree here in St. George. Mr. Hardy is an experienced teacher, states President Snow, having been employed as principal and teacher in Carbon county. He comes to the Dixie college highly recommended by his teachers and associates. Mrs. Hardy was foiTnerly a teacher in the Iron county schools and Mr. Hardy has spent parts of two summers doing field and research re-search work in Pine Valley and Zion National Park areas with Dr. Angus M. Woodbury and other I U. of U. researchers and field men. 1 Both Mr. and Mrs. Hardy are happy in the prospect of working with Dfxie people and in this excellent ex-cellent field for research, says President Snow. Prof. E. M. Jen-! sen of the B.Y.U. placement agency recommends Miss Buggert as one of the most promising teachers they have developed in her field. "Miss Buggert is an outstanding student in Homemaking, a girl full of life and vigor, and a personality quite different from the average, but very magnetic. Miss Warnick of the home economics department says she will guarantee that Miss Buggert will make good in any position she chooses to accept." quotes President Snow from information infor-mation supplied with reference to this newly selected teacher. She has had one year of physical education edu-cation in the Youth Movement in Germany and is now doing post graduate work in physical education educa-tion and sewing. She has a special talent in art and design. Miss Buggert is reported as having hav-ing an exceptional scholastic record, being one of the two in her class considered for the efficiency effi-ciency medal. Dixie is fortunate in securing such talent for this program, pro-gram, is the opinion expressed. |
