Show pfpfon Video By James Smethurst On June 4. The Movie Channel airs Louis Malle's "Atlantic City." one ot last year's surprise hits. The film takes place in the decaying New Jersey resort town that is rapidly being transformed into Las Vegas East run-down and partially-abandoned apartment buildings sit next to huge new hotels and casinos. Into this environment comes Sally (Susan Sarandon) , a young woman from Saskatchewan who is seeking fame and fortune. Instead she finds a job at a hotel clam bar. Her sister and brother-in-law appear on the scene with several sev-eral thousand dollars worth ot cocaine that they have stolen from the mob. Soon Sally's brolher-ln-law is dead and she is being pursued pur-sued by his killers. An aging, small-time numbers runner (Burt Lancaster) comes to her rescue. Miss Sarandon was nominated nomi-nated for an Academy Award. Lancaster's performance is also outstanding in this film about the distance between people's dreams and the way their lives really are. The May 30 edition of SPN's "Spotlight" will focus on the activities of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches and their members. Included will be a special preview ot the 194th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church to be held June 22-30 in Hartford. Conn. On May 31. ESPN will air the PKA full-contact karate world bantamweight championship from Denver. On May 30. CBS Cable airs "The Potting Shed." a drama by Graham Greene about the search for faith and the fear of finding it. Paul Scofield stars as-James as-James Califer. a man troubled with reaction by his family, a loss of memory about the reason rea-son why. and an inability to have human feelings. The drama dra-ma also stars Anna Massey and Celia Johnson and is directed by David Cunlife. Sure, you've seen "Citizen Kane" and you know what a great movie it is. but have you seen Orson Welles' "The Magnificent Mag-nificent Ambersons"? You'll have a chance when it airs -June 1 on WTBS. This beautiful beauti-ful movie tells the story of a decadent Midwestern family clinging to tradition in a time beset by rapid changes. The cast includes Joseph Cotten, Agnes Moorehead.
