Show FOUR CITY tennis courts were resurfaced and being played on last week. The city is attempting to upgrade its recreation facilities. Tennis court gets new surface The four Vernal City tennis courts, 950 West 300 North, have been resurfaced resurfac-ed as part of an on-going program to improve the city's recreation facilities. The four courts have a new acrylic surface put on last week by Tennis Court Inc., of Salt Lake City. According to the contractor, the new surface should last seven to ten years. Cost of the project plus new nets was $9,280. The combined efforts of the city, county, softball associations and volunteers are installing lights on the softball field northeast of Ashley Elementary. The Men's Softball Association has donated $2,000; Women's Softball Association, $300; city, ci-ty, $8,000; and county, $8,000 to finance the project. Poles were donated by Sweeney Wood Production, A&A Electric Elec-tric donated electrical work, Utah Power and Light donated work on the trench and installing the poles and players volunteered labor. The field should be complete by Friday Fri-day for the Memorial Day Tournament. In conjunction with Community Schools, the city is sponsoring a host of summer activities including a tennis program, play mobile, volleyball tournament, tour-nament, jr. golf program, women's exercise ex-ercise class, racquetball tournament, baseball and volleyball classics. |
