Show Flaming Gorge is ready for Memorial Day Facilities at Flaming Gorge National Recreational Area will be open for the Memorial Day weekend, with few exceptions, reports area Ranger, Bob Meinrod. Campgrounds open, with fees are Red Canyon, Canyon Rim, Green's Lake, Firefighter's Memorial, Deer Run, Cedar Springs, Mustang Ridge, Carmel, Lucerne Valley and Buckboard Crossing. Generally, those campgrounds with flush toilets are $5 a night; those having vault toilets are $4. Group campgrounds are located at Green's Lake, Greendale East and West, Arch Dam, Dripping Springs and Lucerne Valley. Reservations are required to camp in these group sites. Groups are not permitted in regular family unit campgrounds. Campgrounds open without fees include Kingfisher Island, Hideout Canyon, Gooseneck and Jarvies Canyon. Due to high maintenance costs, these boating campgrounds will not be provided with docks or toilets, and will remain open as long as users properly dispose of their own waste and carry out their trash. Browne Lake and Deep Creek campgrounds are open, without water or fees. Firewood will not be provided in the campgrounds this summer, however, campground firewood is available in designated areas near Dripping Springs, Greendale Junction and Cedar Springs. No permits are required, but use is limited to campground firewood only. Use of campstoves and charcoal is encouraged. The following campgrounds have complete or partial closures. Skull Creek is closed for the 1982 season. The camping, picnicking and restroom facilities at Antelope Flat are also closed; the boat ramp and parking lot will remain open.
