Show Discovery classes busy before break Before the Christmas break, Discovery Elementary School had a very busy month. In addition to the regular schedule of studies and assignments, the students were actively involved in decorating their rooms and commons areas with attractive Christmas art displays. The fifth grade shared their special talents and created a very festive atmosphere for the halls. An open house was held Monday evening, Dec. 21 with special entertainment en-tertainment provided by several sixth grade students playing Christmas music on various types of melody bells followed by the first grade students who performed a number of Christmas melodies both traditional and novel. These were illustrated with the art work and letters to Santa Claus which the children had prepared. Each grade had the opportunity of caroling for all the other grades in the school on various days throughout the month of December. Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 22, all the students joined together in the multipurpose multi-purpose room to sing songs and tell stories around the Christmas tree. Classroom Christmas parties were held in the afternoon Dec. 23. The room mothers provided cookies, cupcakes and other special treats and the school purchased chocolate milk for each of the students. Most of the classes exchanged ex-changed gifts among the homeroom students. Classes will resume at the local schools Jan. 4. |
