Show 50 YEARS AGO Dec. 31, 1931 Raymond Dow of Vernal, son of Dwight Dow, came near death last week in the Hells Hole country on White River, 60 miles southwest of Vernal, when making an inspection of a band of sheep his horse fell down a steep en-bankment, en-bankment, being almost instantly killed and rendering Dow unconscious. . Scout Troop Number 232 of Vernal Second Ward completed a very worthy troop good turn when they chipped the ice from the highway corner half mile from town. Phil Watkins is the scout master. On Monday night at the Wcodard hall the Future Farmers of Roosevelt and the Future Farmers of Uintah met in a boxing contest. Fifteen bouts were scheduled but only twelve were fought due to poor matching or physician's request. Fred Feltch was in Jensen getting ice cutters to help him in the ice harvest. Mr. Feltch is delivering ice to Skull Creek and Baxter Springs, Colo. This is the first time ice from the Green River has been stored in Colorado. |
