Show Union to battle Hurricane The Union Cougars had problems holding on ot the football and Wasatch High School took advantage of the situation as they recovered three fumbles inside the Cats' 16 yard line and defeated the Cougars in Heber City, Friday, 20 to 0. Wasatch took the game's opening kickoff and marched 75 yards to the end zone for the first touchdown. Blake Baird scored the six-pointer on a one-yard one-yard dive. Three Union fumbles set up the next three touchdowns by the Wasatch Wasps in the football game. One Wasatch recovery led to a one-yard touchdown run by Scott Sweat in the second quarter. Wasatch gained its third touchdown in the third quarter on a three-yard run by Dave Wagner. Dave Webster scored the finai touchdown touch-down on one yard run in the fourth quarter. Gary Braley booted three extra points through the uprights. ' Union drove to the ten yard line once in the third quarter, but couldn't get the ball into the end zone. "Our offense had problems controlling the ball and our defense had to play a lot of the game." stated Union's coach Jav Omer. The Union Cougars and the In-termountain In-termountain team will be battling for their first region victory when they clash in Brigham City, Friday at 3:30 p.m. Lehi defeated Intermountain 52 to 0 and Morgan downed Intermountain, 62-0. Union's homecoming contest is set for Wednesday, Oct. 8 against non-league non-league opponent, Hurricane at 7:30 p.m. "Hurricane is undefeated at 5-0 and is a good football team. They have most of their team back. Hurricane has defeated Beaver, twice and Page, Ariz.," commented Omer. The Cats will host Grantsville on Oct. 16 and will battle the Pioneers in Lehi on Oct. 24. |
