Show Saddles are awarded to AASBRA 1st place winners The 1980 season has come to a close for the Mountain States Barrel Racing Association. The awards banquet was held Sept. 16 at the Cow Palace in Roosevelt, and prizes were awarded to the winners down to fourth place in five events. Saddles, which were made for the association by Brad McClellan were presented to first place winners in open barrels, novice barrels, pole bending, goat tying and team roping. An all around saddle was also presented this year. Cindy Young walked away with three saddles. She won the open barrels, pole bending and goat tying. She went to the lead in the barrels and goats early in the year and widened the gap between herself and second place with every rodeo she entered. The lead in the pole bending changed hands several times during the season between Cindy and Bobette Warren, but Young emerged the victor by a handful of points. The novice barrels division was won by Jo Workman of Roosevelt. She held the number one position all during the year, but Dixie Allen came from behind to push to the wire. Allen ended up in second place. The team roping saddle was son by Bobette Warren who held the lead the entire year. The all around saddle was also won by Warren who placed in the top three in every event. Second place in each division was awarded a personalized Wyatt pad, with third place winners receiving silver mounted breast collars. Fourth place finishers won belt buckles. Complete results are as follows: Open Barrel Young, first, 719; Warren, second, 482; Lori McNeill, third, 461; Kristy McNeill, fourth, 181. Novice barrels Workman, first, 248; Allen, second, 225; Fausett, third, 204; Marie Bolton, fourth, 203. Poles Young; first, 398; Warren, second, 383; Workman, Work-man, third, 255; Lori McNeill, fourth, 209. Goat tying Young, first, 243; Lori McNeill, second, 166; Warren, third, 137; Patsy Mecham, fourth, 85. Team roping Warren, first, 565; Kristy McNeill, second, 408; Lori McNeill, third, 221 ; Joan Reidhead, fourth, 187. All around Warren. Fausett and Allen were presented buckles at the banquet. Fausett won the sportsmanship award and Allen was voted the most improved. New officers for the 1981 season will be Young, president and Fausett, vice president. Young has called a general membership mem-bership meeting to be held Tuesday at the court house in Vernal at 7:30 p.m. Old members are urged to attend and new members are welcome. ; 5 !' . v f.
