Show New oil shale venture announced for local area Quintana Minerals Corp., of Houston has joined with Magic Circle Energy Corp. and Synthetic Oil Corp., both of Oklahoma City, in development of 13 oil shale leases in Uintah County, officials announced. The leases include about 8,000 acres of the 76,000 oil shale leases held by Magic Circle on state of Utah lands. Quintana and Synthetic Oil are applying ap-plying to the Department of Energy for a multi-million, dollar grant to deter mine the feasibility of a planned oil shale project to produce 10,000 barrels a day. The grant is being applied for under the $20 billion synthetic fuels bill recently passed by Congress. The announcement of the agreement was made by William J. O'Connor, president of Magic Circle Energy, Corbin Robertson Jr., president of Quintana Minerals and Byron D. Parker, president of Synthetic Oil. |
