Show Discovery school to be dedicated Dedication of Discovery Elementary will be Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Uintah School Board member, Elouise Turner. Following the 30 to 40 minute dedication program, the school will be open to tour, Colleen Colton, principal said. Mrs. Colton said the school is almost filled to capacity at 615 students. The school is experiencing the highest teacher-student ratio in the district with 38 students per teacher in the sixth grade. Mrs. Colton said there is a room available to help cut the teacher-student teacher-student ratio, but there isn't enough teachers. Besides minor problems of adjusting to a new building, Mrs. Colton said school is going smoothly. Last Saturday teachers at the school volunteered their time to paint the playgrounds for four-square, dodge ball and other playground games. "We have a shortage of playground equipment," Mrs. Colton said. "The volunteer teacher help greatly im-proved im-proved the playground. |
